Rick Ross is being sued by a disabled man following a lack of access to his car show
At Rick Ross’ recent car show, he had one extremely dissatisfied customer. One man was left so frustrated that he is pursuing legal action and plans on taking Ross to court.
Darris Straughter is the claimant in this instance. Straughter uses a wheelchair and claims in his suit that the staff at the car show confirmed on multiple occasions that they would be able to provide wheelchair access at the event. This included a wheelchair-accessible shuttle bus that could take him to the event. However, on the days of Ross’s car show, the bus never showed up.
Straughter states that in addition to paying for a ticket to the show, he also spent money on transport and lodging. The final bill was so high that he sold his own car to afford it.
While the specifics of the case are as yet unknown, it has been reported that he is suing Rick Ross for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The case has been filed, and all parties have been notified; however, the rapper has yet to respond to any of the charges.
The car show was Ross’s third instalment. It took place on June 1st at his Promise Land estate in Fayetteville, GA. Fans attending were excited, as only days before the show, Rick Ross had shared an eye-watering prize that one lucky attendee would be taking home.
In a video that the rapper shared online, he unveiled a 37-carat VVS diamond car key he planned to give to someone at the next event. The car key is worth approximately $130,000. “The car show a few days away,” he said, “It’s time to show the winners what you’ll receive. It’s never been done like this.”
Ross continued, “I got the number one jeweller in the city, Vobara, here with me. We doin’ this for the streets. You see that? […] Real stones. We’re putting our money where our mouth at. This is something that never been done.”
This isn’t anything new for Rick Ross, as at his previous car shows in 2023, he gave the winners in attendance similarly valued jewellery. He previously claimed that he had spent around $300,000 for the winners and posted a few of the pieces, which were inspired by Rolls Royce, online.
This is a developing story. More information surrounding the lawsuit will follow.
