Famed Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock, known for his 2016 hit ‘Selfish’, has been fatally shot during a robbery at Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles on Main Street and Manchester Avenue.
The incident occurred at around 13:15 when PnB Rock, whose real name is Rakim Allen, was mugged by an armed assailant after being targeted for his jewellery.
According to police sources cited in the Los Angeles Times, Allen was shot almost immediately by the robber after a brief interaction took place.
The shooting proved fatal, and Allen was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital at 13:59. The Philadelphia-based rapper was only 30 years old.
Police Capt. Kelly Muniz reported that the assailant “shot the victim and ran out the side door to a getaway car and then fled the parking lot.” As of yet, the assailant is yet to be identified and no arrest has been made public.
Speaking about the incident and the worrying trend it illuminates, fellow rapper Nicki Minaj stated: “The ppl around these rappers gain so much. It’s time to start really reminding them over & over!!! At least TRY to put your foot down if you CARE! Tell them!!!”
Adding: “You’re not loved like you think you are!!! You’re prey!!!! In a world full of predators!!!! What’s not clicking???!!!”
