Rapper behind shopping centre shooting demands permission to smoke weed

Washington, D.C. rapper No Savage (signed to Young Thug‘s label) fired shots at a shopping centre in 2022 and was sentenced to three years in prison. Now, he’s asking the judge to be allowed to smoke weed on probation.

The rapper fired his gun at Tysons Corner Center in downtown Washington, D.C., with police alleging he had been in a fight with another group. However, no one was harmed during the incident, which was caught on a security camera.

Savage (real name Noah Settles), who is on a 10-year suspended sentence, appeared in Fairfax County court on June 20th after violating the terms of his probation. He failed drug and alcohol tests and didn’t comply with his required substance abuse treatment, but will remain free.

In the courtroom, his lawyer asked the judge to remove the order that Settles cannot use cannabis. “That music scene and social scene Noah has grown up with is infused with marijuana use,” he said.

The judge replied, “You’re asking me to let him smoke marijuana because he’s rapper, even though he hasn’t done the substance abuse treatment that was ordered? My concern is that he comes back with something more serious, or he ends up dead.”

During an interview with NBC4 Washington, No Savage said, “The judge rules is what it is, but, I mean, at the end of the day, it’s legal everywhere. I don’t do no other drugs.

“I’m just happy I ain’t going to jail. That’s the biggest thing, the biggest blessing. I got my son. So, that’s the biggest blessing ever – not going back to jail. I’m heading in a straight path. I’m doing way better than ever. I feel better than ever.”

He added, “Just keep focusing, keep doing what I’m doing, keep driving. I got new music dropping. I’mma get through this. I’ve been through a lot. I ain’t never folded under pressure, so I’mma get through it.”

No Savage’s music boasts millions of streams, including songs like ‘Reaper’ and ‘Dirty 38’, which each have racked up around five million streams. His latest album, Too Mobb, dropped in May on Warner Music Group’s 300 Entertainment.
