Rapper iLoveMemphis arrested for second time over alleged burglaries
Rapper iLoveMemphis has been arrested for the second time this month.
The 32-year-old (real name Richard Colbert) was taken into custody on February 17th following alleged burglaries and causing a disturbance in the city of Plantation, Florida.
According to NBC 6 South Florida, Plantation Police received reports of a disturbance at the 8600 block of Gatehouse Road and came across the rapper.
iLoveMemphis was using his phone and posting on social media, violating the conditions of his pretrial release for his last arrest.
Officers attempted to arrest him, but he ran off. He allegedly escaped by trespassing through people’s homes and entering fenced gardens.
From there, Broward Sheriff’s deputies called in their aviation unit and K-9s to help hunt down the rapper around Jacaranda Country Club. He was eventually found and taken into custody, but no charges have been confirmed.
iLoveMemphis was previously arrested on February 10th, barricading himself inside his home and having a standoff with a SWAT team while live-streaming the incident on social media.
He was charged with written or electronic threats to kill and resisting an officer without violence, with the rapper accused of going on Instagram Live and making threats to shoot and kill.
In the stream to his 738,000 Instagram followers, he said, “Please, please save me, y’all. I’m begging you. I don’t got nothing. I don’t want to hurt nobody, y’all.” He also told his fans that he doesn’t want to die.
iLoveMemphis is best known for his hit single, ‘Hit the Quan’, which was released in 2015; the song is certified platinum after reaching number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. His follow-up, ‘Lean and Dabb’, peaked at number 98.
