Rapper HoodyBaby charged alongside Chris Brown in bottle attack case

Singer Chris Brown has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent over an attack that took place in 2023, and denied bail. Now, rapper and friend HoodyBaby has been charged alongside Brown.

On May 17th, the Metropolitan Police shared that rapper HoodyBaby, whose real name is Omololu Akinlolu, had also been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent for the February 19th attack.

Akinlolu’s full role in the assault is not known, as the police have provided no further information. The New York Times has suggested that HoodyBaby’s role has only just come to light, hence the delayed arrest.

Currently, Brown is being remanded in Manchester due to the “extremely serious” nature of the attack, which was caught on CCTV. His next hearing will be in London on June 13th. This immediately jeopardises the beginning of his stadium world tour, which is set to kick off on June 8th in Amsterdam. Sold-out shows in Hamburg on June 11th and Frankfurt on June 13th are also likely to be cancelled.

This isn’t where the repercussions end for Brown, who is meant to be bringing his ‘Breezy Bowl XX’ tour to Europe next month. Music producer Abraham Diaw, who accused Brown of the assault, has also lodged a civil complaint for $16 million against Brown. He is seeking damages for injuries and losses from the alleged incident.

He was scheduled to play two nights at Manchester’s Co-Op Live arena on June 15th and 16th, and return to the huge stadium on June 24th and July 3rd. Brown is also set to play the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Glasgow’s Hampden Park and Birmingham’s Villa Park.

The musician and dancer is yet to comment on his arrest.
