Rapper Gunplay arrested for domestic abuse with a firearm

The Miami-Dade Police Department has arrested Florida rapper and Miami native Gunplay following a heated dispute that saw the emcee threaten and attack his wife and child with a gun.

The musician is a little-known Florida rapper who was a member of the Southern hip-hop group the Triple C’s that birthed Rick-Ross. However, Gunplay failed beyond the state level and has been a part-time artist and criminal for several years.

The act (real name Richard Morales) was recently jailed after a dispute with his wife that saw the intoxicated rapper turn violent. According to the arrest report acquired by TMZ, the musician was playing a loud video game while his six-month-old baby was sleeping and, following a suggestion by his wife to stop, switched.

The document then details how Morales picked up a rifle and pointed it at his wife’s chest, threatening to shoot her while she carried their child. Moreover, prior to the use of his firearm, Morales attempted to wound his partner by throwing glass cups and liquor bottles at her. Several fragments hit the child.

He then falsely imprisoned his wife and child, which prompted Gunplay’s wife, Vonshae Taylor-Morales, to call the police. The 44-year-old rapper was then taken to jail and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and child abuse.

His bail was set at $20,000. While he was behind bars, his wife secured a restraining order. Following the news being made public, Vonshae Taylor-Morales took to Instagram to declare her safety, writing, “I just want everyone to know my daughter and I are safe. Unfortunately, Richard is back using and developed a very bad drinking problem. I’ve tried everything in my power to help him and love him.”

The emcee’s wife is also taking legal action to end their marriage, declaring, “I am filing for divorce. He will never get the chance to disrespect us again.” The former Love & Hip Hip Miami star has since been exposed as an alcoholic and abuser.
