Rapper caught by police after escaping from prison

Rapper Dsavv has been caught after escaping from prison during a hospital visit earlier this month.

The 21-year-old London drill artist (real name Daniel Boakye) was taken back into custody on February 12th after going missing on February 10th.

According to Metro, Dsavv was found in south east London after evading prison officers at West Middlesex University Hospital.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said, “Following extensive enquiries by Met Police officers, the 21-year-old man was located at an address in Thamesmead at around 12.40hrs on Wednesday 11 February and arrested on suspicion of escaping from lawful custody.”

They continued, “He was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, this offence relates to a separate incident which took place prior to the man absconding custody. He remains in police custody.”

The statement added that a 30-year-old man, two women aged 20 and 51, and a 17-year-old girl were arrested for assisting an offender.

Dsavv is currently behind bars at HMP Feltham in west London after being jailed in 2023 for stealing £115,000 worth of cryptocurrency at knifepoint.

He was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and sentenced to six years and five months in prison.

When a manhunt was initially launched, the Metropolitan Police said, “Shortly after 03:30hrs on Tuesday, 10 February, the Met was informed by the Prison Service that a prisoner had escaped custody while under the care of prison staff at a west London hospital.”

They added, “The prisoner is a 21-year-old man. While the investigation proceeds at pace, we will not be able to provide further details. Officers are carrying out urgent enquiries in an effort to locate him and return him to custody.”
