Raekwon announces new album ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ with big features
Raekwon has announced his new album. The Emperor’s New Clothes is set to be released on July 18th via Mass Appeal Records, serving as his first solo album in eight years.
The Emperor’s New Clothes will include all-star features from Nas, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Westside Gunn, Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, Marsha Ambrosius, and Stacy Barthe.
On the production side, the 17-track project will feature beats from Swizz Beatz, Nottz, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Frank G, Roadsart, and others.
The album cover shows the Wu-Tang MC wearing a red outfit while sitting on a stool against a green backdrop.
Speaking on Instagram Live last year, Raekwon hyped up his new project, telling fans, “This one’s gonna fuck y’all n*ggas up. Trust.”
His last album, The Wild, was released in March 2017. It debuted at number 88 on the Billboard 200 chart and featured Lil Wayne, G-Eazy, CeeLo Green, and Andra Day, with RZA, Dame Grease, and Frank G production.
Mass Appeal revealed that albums from seven legendary artists would be released by the end of 2025. Raekwon is among those, alongside Nas and DJ Premier, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, Big L, and De La Soul.
There was also an “epic return by a surprise guest of honour,” which turned out to be Slick Rick. He was the first to release a project with the label this year, with Victory dropping in June as his first album in 26 years.
Raekwon is touring with the rest of Wu-Tang Clan this summer on their farewell tour, Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber. They’ll perform in Chicago, Detroit, Columbus, Boston, Laval, Toronto, New York, Newark, and Philadelphia in July.
