Judge rejects R Kelly’s bond request over danger to community

R Kelly has been denied after a third request for temporary release to home confinement. The singer has made various allegations against prison officials in the past month, and received his rejection on June 24th.

US District Judge Martha M Pacold turned down his bond request but has yet to decide on his request for a new trial. She said the court found no legal or factual basis for releasing him.

According to AllHipHop, the order read, “Kelly has not produced any argument or evidence—much less clear and convincing evidence—challenging [the court’s previous] finding or indicating that circumstances have changed such that Kelly is no longer a flight risk or a danger to the community.”

Pacold also mentioned Judge Harry Leinenweber’s findings, who determined his release would threaten the community in his Illinois trial.

Kelly recently asked the judge to disqualify the Northern District of Illinois from handling his case, alleging a former prosecutor engaged in “serious malfeasance.”

This came after Kelly claimed a leader of the prison gang, Aryan Brotherhood, was asked to kill him by prison officials in exchange for freedom.

In court documents, his lawyer, Beau Brindley, said, “The threat to Mr Kelly’s life continues each day that no action is taken. More AB members are accumulating at his facility. More than one has already been approached about carrying out his murder. One of them will surely do what Mr Stine has not, thereby burying the truth about what happened in this case along with Robert Kelly.”

Kelly was also recently rushed to the hospital after a drug overdose, claiming the amount of drugs he was given wasn’t an accident.
