Quavo announces release date of his new album 'Rocket Power'

Atlanta rapper Quavo has announced the release date of his new upcoming album Rocket Power. The highly anticipated project follows the release of the musician’s new single ‘Turn Yo Clic Up’ featuring Future, released July 17th.

Named after his late nephew Takeoff, the former Migos member has already told fans how much the album means to him and has explained to his followers that the project has helped him heal emotionally.

Last month following the BET Tribute performance he and Offset delivered in honour of Takeoff, Quavo took to social media to explain the profound meaning of the Rocket Power, stating, “This album is a true reflection of how I feel right now. Sometimes I’m good, sometimes I’m down, sometimes I’m disappointed, sometimes I fall apart, but then I ALWAYS find my strength again.”

The announcement of the upcoming body of work was accompanied by a trailer that features a massive CGI rocket preparing to launch into space. Named after Takeoff, who was often referred to as ‘Rocket Man,’ the video was put out alongside a heartfelt statement.

Released alongside the trailer, the statement reads, “This Album Is Embodying All My Emotions. Through the process of healing, I’ve learned to turn tragedy into triumph. I had to dig deep into my purpose and find the power to keep striving.”

It continues, “To my fans, thanks for being patient wit me and supporting Us. To my FAMILY, even when times get hard, we kno our MAIN mission is to keep the Rocket name ALIVE. TIL INFINITY.” The trailer highlighted August 4th as the official album release date.

Rocket Power is the first project released by Quavo since Takeoff was murdered outside a Houston bowling alley in November of last year. The singles that have been released so far are, ‘Greatness,’ ‘Honey Bin’ and ‘Turn Up You Clic.’ You can watch the album’s trailer below.
