Producer claims Drake is “happier” after Kendrick Lamar beef

The Kendrick Lamar and Drake feud has been the talk of the hip-hop world for most of the summer. the various diss tracks and thinly veiled music video insults have been enough to keep us all entertained for weeks on end. But, according to one producer, it’s not just audiences who have been entertained.

Drake is one of the biggest rappers in the world, with a penchant for slow rhythm and R’n’B beats. His releases have garnered some of the largest album sales the world has ever seen and made him a household name in the process. But things got heated when he clashed with Kendrick Lamar, a rapper equipped to go toe-to-toe with him both commercially and, certainly, lyrically.

The two men beefing over a ream of diss tracks have not only enthralled the hip-hop world but also reached society at large, becoming a pop culture phenomenon. As the battle raged on, it became clear that the hip-hop world had found their winner, when Lamar released ‘Not Like Us’ — a brutal takedown of Drake that the OVO rapper never recovered from.

Most have given Lamar the win, but according to producer and Drake’s friend, Gordo, the Canadian rapper is actually a little happier after the feud. Formerly known as Carnage, Gordo says that Drake is taking the loss in his stride and had now moved past the beef.

The producer told PEOPLE magazine: “Ever since all this has happened… I’ve seen him happier. It’s really weird. He’s pretty jolly… The internet makes it seem like, ‘Oh, that photo, he’s all sad and s###.’ That’s just a bad photo from a bad camera.”

Gordo thinks that Drake’s superstar status is the reason for the extra focus on the rapper: “But because it’s him, it’s put under a magnifying glass like, ‘Oh, look at his eyes. He’s looking a little droopy. He hasn’t slept.’ But the guy’s been happy as s###, to be honest. He’s chilling.”

As the hip-hop world continues to revel in any and all strays fired at each of the rappers through sales or views, it would seem that, in reality, there were no real losers from this battle.
