Post Malone to headline World Cup closing ceremony in New Jersey
Post Malone is set to perform at the World Cup closing ceremony this weekend.
The 2026 World Cup final will be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 19th, with Spain confirmed to take on Argentina following their win against England.
Just days before the big event, Malone has been confirmed as a performer at the closing ceremony.
He joins the likes of Justin Bieber, Madonna, Shakira, and BTS as musical guests at the show, which will begin 90 minutes before kick-off.
Also involved are Tom Cruise, Jennifer Hudson, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, IShowSpeed, and Robbie Williams.
In a statement, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said, “At a time when sport, culture, and global attention converge, Post Malone will deliver a performance designed to celebrate the tournament’s journey and ignite the atmosphere before the world’s attention turns to the two finalists.”
Other performers across the World Cup have included Shakira, Burna Boy, Future, Tyla, Katy Perry, Michael Buble, Alessia Cara, Eliana, and Ellie Goulding.
Speaking on his upcoming appearance, Bieber said, “The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way nothing else can. I’m grateful to be part of this halftime show, and even more grateful knowing it’s already helping expand access to education for children around the world.”
Malone has spoken about football in the past, pledging his allegiance to a Premier League club. During an interview with LinkUpTV in 2017, he revealed he was an Arsenal fan.
“I love London, I love this town,” he said. “I love getting weird, and I’m ready to go. Come on, baby, Dre been putting me on. Dre told me, so I’m an Arsenal fan.”
