Having recently asserted himself as one of the hottest young talents in hip hop, compounded by a world-spinning appearance on Fallon, Polo G found himself in a spot of bother after being picked up by Miami PD.
As the Miami Herald reports, Polo G was arrested on June 12 and booked in on several charges, including battery of a police officer, threatening a public servant, criminal mischief and resisting arrest. The rapper posted his bond of $19,500.
His mother and manager, Stacia Mac, took to Instagram to acknowledge the situation and confirmed that she had been in contact with her son, Polo G and his younger brother Trench Baby, after they had left the release party for his new album Hall of Fame.
They had spoken to their mother because they were worried about the police presence following them. “They stopped them because they were driving while Black,” she said.
Stasia Mac also tweeted, “None of these charges would be possible if the POLICE did not make contact with my son Polo G!!! He was NOT the driver. He was a PASSENGER in a professionally licensed vehicle with security. He was moving smart and correctly. What more could he have done.”
Miami Police Department tweeted it “is aware of the incident involving Mr. Taurus Bartlett, also known as Polo G, and another male juvenile.”
