Police report filed against Kanye West for battery charges

The disgraced American rapper Kanye West has attracted even more controversy after he was filmed committing battery after a heated argument with a photographer.

In the video, Ye accuses a woman of following him whilst in her car, with the rapper eventually grabbing and throwing her phone across the street. Quickly walking away from the scene, he jumps into his SUV and drives off next to his wife, Bianca Censori. Ye is now the named suspect in a battery investigation, with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department using the video linked below as evidence.

The latest controversy comes after Ye destroyed his public image with multiple ‘White Lives Matter’ sloganeering and antisemitic remarks in late 2022. As a result of his actions, a slew of organisations have now cut ties with the rapper, including his booking agent and lawyer.

In addition, his $2billion brand deal with Adidas also fell through after the clothing brand released a statement reading: “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”

Elsewhere, Hollywood powerhouse MRC has announced that it is to halt a documentary they recently completed about the rapper. In a statement, the company’s bosses explained that they “cannot support any content that amplifies his platform” because of his antisemitic comments.

Numerous clips went viral when Ye appeared in an interview with Alex Jones in December 2022 and praised Adolf Hitler, denied the Holocaust, and appeared to identify as a Nazi. Clips spread rapidly across the internet and sealed an awful year for West’s public image, with many considering his professional career to be irreparably damaged as a result.
