Police offer reward for information about Indianapolis rapper’s murder
Police are offering money for information about the murder of Indianapolis rapper Lil E.
The 35-year-old (real name Eric Butler) was shot and killed on the 200 block of South Franklin Road on June 19th.
According to The Indianapolis Star, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced the reward on July 2nd.
The money will be provided to anyone who provides information leading to identification and arrest, but they didn’t state what prompted the reward.
In a statement, they said, “ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information related to the identification of those responsible for this senseless act of violence.”
ATF Public Information Officer Bill Halusek said the agency “is committed to holding violent offenders accountable to the fullest extent of the law – regardless of who the victim is – in order to enhance public safety and reduce gun violence.”
Officers responded to reports of a shooting on the city’s east side at around 2:15am. He was taken to a local hospital after suffering gunshot wounds, where he died.
E released his most popular album, Professional Shit Talking, which was a collaboration with Rio Da Yung OG, in November 2019. ‘Hardly Breathe’ has over nine million views on YouTube, and another nine million streams on Spotify.
In a statement, he family said, “Eric was more than a talented artist – he was a voice for his generation, a creative visionary, and a true original. Through his music, he gave a voice to the unheard, turned pain into purpose, and inspired countless people around the world.”
They added, “His authenticity, passion, and fearless spirit set him apart, but it was his heart that made him unforgettable.”
