Oscars 2023: Rihanna set to perform ‘Black Panther’ song

Not content with merely smashing it out of the park at the Super Bowl, Rihanna is set to perform a string of songs from Black Panther at the Oscars 2023 next month.

After a lengthy hiatus, the singer is back with a bang. She was already set to attend the Oscars after the song ‘Lift Me Up’ which she wrote for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever alongside director Ryan Coogler, Tems, and the film’s composer Ludgwig Goransson.

Speaking about her return to music, the Barbadian star publicly stated: “I’m feeling open to exploring, discovering, creating things that are new, things that are different, things that are off, weird. Might not ever make sense to my fans … I want to have fun with music.” That much has been patently apparent with her recent shows

In recent years, many fellow pop sensations have also taken to the Oscars stage including Lady Gaga, Beyonce, King Richard, Billie Eilish and Riba McEntire. The star-studded attendees will certainly be hoping that she lives up to those standards.

Nevertheless, Rihanna faces stiff competition in the category from David Byrne, Mitski and Ryan Lott with ‘This Is a Life’, ‘Applause’ bv Diane Warren, ‘Naatu Naatu’ by M. M. Keeravani and Chandrabose, and ‘Hold My Hand’ by Lady Gaga and BloodPop.

The ceremony is set to commence on March 13th. Jimmy Kimmel will host the event at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
