Oakland rapper Mistah F.A.B. arrested over alleged illegal fireworks
Oakland rapper Mistah F.A.B. has been arrested.
The 44-year-old was taken into custody on July 22nd for allegedly setting off illegal fireworks on July 4th.
According to ABC 7 News, F.A.B. was arrested after an almost three-week investigation stemming from a video on social media.
He was charged with possession of dangerous fireworks and receiving stolen property, pleading not guilty.
Police officers claim that they found boxes of fireworks and two guns, with one of them being reported stolen.
Following the arrest, F.A.B. took to Instagram to post a statement, in which he described himself as a positive member of the community.
“If I am guilty of anything, it is of serving my community, being a neighbourhood hero, continuing to put on community service and creating safe environments for the children and the community,” he said.
In his social media post last week, F.A.B. claimed that he had over $10,000 worth of fireworks “for the kids.”
Reacting to the arrest, community minister Reverend Harry William said, “I was devastated to hear that news because of what he’s done in the community. This man has created scholarship funds. He has given backpack giveaways. He has fed people. He has probably put millions of dollars back into this community. He has paid for funerals. He has sent people to college.”
He continued, “I’ve seen him literally a few weeks ago give someone thousands of dollars to go to college. He has poured his life into Oakland. For someone who’s done so much good in the world to be arraigned to be arrested in a city that’s one of the most dangerous places in the whole country – for fireworks.”
