
Acclaimed Norwegian rapper arrested in Poland due to suspected drug crimes and assault
A popular Norwegian hip-hop star has been arrested on allegations of drug crimes, causing bodily harm and assaulting a police officer.
Pappaisjappa was reportedly detained in Warsaw, Poland on November 27th on an international arrest warrant after allegedly fleeing the justice system in Norway.
According to ABC News, Poland has opened an extradition procedure for the 37-year-old artist following the alleged crimes against him. Polish police announced the arrest in a statement on December 2nd, while also sharing a video of the suspect walking in handcuffs.
Pappaisjappa was found after Norwegian services found a lead in Poland and established cooperation with the Criminal Bureau of the Police Headquarters, TVN Warszawa reports.
Using the European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams, they were able to send information internationally in order to locate the wanted man, with an Oslo police liaison officer also involved in the operation.
“Police officers of the Department of Search and Identification of Persons of the Criminal Bureau of the National Police Headquarters began immediate search operations,” a statement read. “After carrying out a number of activities, they determined that the wanted man is likely to be in Warsaw.”
It continued, “Further official activities led to narrowing down the area of the possible whereabouts of the wanted man, who was hiding in an apartment in one of Warsaw’s districts. The detention was carried out in the evening hours of November 27th, 2024, in the area of his residence.”
Pappaisjappa has over 38,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Some of his biggest songs include ‘St. Tropez’, which was released on Universal Music Polska and has over 3.3 million plays, along with ‘Wallahi’, which boasts over 1.6 million listens. He also has over 27,000 followers on Instagram, but his account is private.
