Nicki Minaj teases a new documentary on TV

Nicki Minaj has just released her fifth studio album, Pink Friday 2, and following its positive reception from fans, the Queens emcee has promised them that a documentary is in the works and will be on te way soon.

Following her project’s release, Minaj appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, during which she claimed that an upcoming documentary is currently being filmed and will most likely drop before she starts touring in early March.

Reassuring fans, the Pinkprint lyricist declared, “The documentary is absolutely still coming. I’ll of course add some new stuff going on in it to reflect the aftermath of Pink Friday 2 and stuff like that, but it’s done.”

She continued, “I’m sharing stuff that probably nobody would expect me to share in the documentary. And yeah, it’s going to be a great experience for my fans.” When Andy Cohen asked why the documentary is taking so long to be finalised, the 41-year-old rhymer explained that she initially wanted it to be part of her album rollout.

Explaining this, the ‘Anaconda’ act elaborated, “What happened was, because my album was not done when I was going to originally put it out, I didn’t want the documentary to come out without the music. That would’ve made no sense to people. Because of that, that network, they had to go with something else and I couldn’t force a documentary out either.”

She continued, “I wouldn’t have wanted it to come out right now because then it would take time from them really being able to really listen to music. And so now that they’ve digested the music, when the documentary comes, it’ll be a different level of emotional roller coaster, I think.”

Last year, Minaj took to social media to share the documentary trailer that features footage from when she first began to rap in the early-2000s up to the present. The post was captioned, “Coming out SOONER THANK YOU THINK!! I took some time to perfect this very intimate, delicate, electrifying, inspiring body of work. As I decide on a home for this project, I can’t help but reflect on what I’m including in this doc.”
