Nicki Minaj sued by ex-employee for assault

A former employee has sued Nicki Minaj for assault regarding an alleged incident on her Pink Friday 2 tour.

On January 3rd, Brandon Garrett, who says he worked as Minaj’s day-to-day manager during the tour, was attacked by the rapper after a concert in Detroit on April 21st at the Little Ceasers Arena. Garrett claims he was hit multiple times by Minaj following an angry backstage encounter.

In the lawsuit, it’s alleged that Garrett was brought to her dressing room, where he was met by the rapper along with her former manager Deb Antney. They allegedly told him to send a fellow employee, hospitality manager Nick Montgomery, to pick up Minaj’s prescriptions.

“Ms. Antney asked why Mr. Montgomery was picking up prescriptions on behalf of Defendant Maraj,” the complaint states. “Plaintiff responded that he had Mr. Montgomery pick up a prescription in the past because Defendant Maraj wanted it immediately, but Plaintiff was occupied at the venue with Defendant Maraj in the quick change room during a performance because one of Plaintiff’s job duties was assisting Defendant Maraj with dressing during performances.”

Garrett alleges Minaj was “visibly upset” and allegedly “angrily screamed” at him, Are you fucking crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your fucking mind and if my husband was here, he would knock out your fucking teeth. You’re a dead man walking. You just fucked up your whole life and you will never be anyone, I’ll make sure of it.”

The lawsuit also said: “At this point, Defendant Maraj open-handedly struck Plaintiff on the right side of his face, causing his head to swing backwards as his hat flew off his head.”

Garrett then claims he “ran to the nearest restroom and locked himself inside for hours”. He says he was informed by Antney that the tour bus would leave without him to Chicago. Upon flying to Chicago, Garrett says he filed a police complaint and also returned to Detroit to also file another.

Minaj’s lawyer, Judd Burstein, denied the claims in a statement to TMZ, writing, “At this time, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty, and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations,” Burstein said. “However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter brought by this ex assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty’s favor.”
