Nicki Minaj appeared to take a scathing swipe at Kanye West during her appearance at Essence Music Festival in New Orleans over the weekend.
The performance itself marked Minaj’s first live appearance in three years and she wasted no time in stirring the pot as she subtlety hurled a hatchet into a feud with Ye.
During the set, Minaj launched into a medley of all her guest verses from her early career. When the moment came for her to recite her contribution to West’s 2010 track ‘Monster’, Minaj commented, “We don’t fuck with clowns,” and skipped over the verse.
With a wry smile, she then gave a quick shout-out to New Orleans but not before savvy folks in the audience seemed to realise the orchestrated snub which had just happened.
Much of the fan speculation has suggested that she skipped the verse owing to West’s very recent collaboration with Cardi B with him Minaj has an ongoing feud. Thus, maybe West was merely collateral damage.
West is yet to comment on the matter himself at the moment but based on his track record it probably won’t have slipped by him. You can check out the strangely surreal moment for yourself below.
