Nicki Minaj issues apology after kicking a photographer

The queen of rap, Nicki Minaj, has recently received a lot of backlash after attempting to attack the photographer and videographer Alex ‘Griz’ Loucas, who she had hired to capture footage from her tour.

Many fans were shocked by the unprovoked attack. However, Nicki has now come out to explain what led up to the incident and detail how, in fact, Loucas is a close friend who she has known for years.

Loucas has been assisting Minaj on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour and has been on the road with her for the past year. As such, it’s unsurprising that the cameraman was present while Minaj was performing on stage at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, on September 18th.

Still, during a sensual segment of her performance, the Queen creator spotted a silhouette holding a camera and, under the assumption it was someone not sanctioned to take potentially compromising photos of her, Nicki aggressively approached the individual.

After fans and, furthermore, the internet saw footage of Nicki in a minor scuffle, Minaj was forced to come out and explain in detail what had happened during her Texas show. Minaj referred to Loucas as “one of my best friends “and insisted she couldn’t see who was behind the lens.

Minaj later uploaded a post to X in order to clarify the situation where you can hear the ‘Chun-Li’ rapper shout and then get Loucas’ response, “Ow, it’s me! No!” She then took to Instagram.

In a separate Instagram post, the ‘Beez In The Trap’ lyricist issued a light-hearted apology to Loucas, writing, “Grizzleearts the fact that I thought Grizz (one of my fave ppl in all the land), was a peeping tom & began stomping him out. [laughing emojis] Grizz, my apologies. I love you.”

Elsewhere in the post, the Queen artist expressed her love for the San Antonio fans who attended her show, saying, “Texas, you are beautiful in every way. If you only knew how bright you shine through, I’ll never forget this night. For the rest of my life. Wishing God’s divine blessings on each and every person who came out to support.”

Nicki’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour is set to carry on across the US, with Minaj performing sold-out shows in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Kansas City, and St. Louis, among other major cities.

The world tour was intended to coincide with the release of Pink Friday 2: Gag City Reloaded, a deluxe version of the 2023 project. However, since its announcement, the artist has decided to scrap it and move forward with Pink Friday 3 instead.

On September 15th, she told fans, “I’ve decided to do a brand-new album. I’ll announce the new date within the next couple [of] weeks. The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album.”

She concluded, “As my first album as [Papa Bear’s] mama, it’s just very special to me for so many reasons you guys aren’t aware of. I put every song on there in a specific order… one or two songs is no big deal, but [adding] five to seven songs feels a little sloppy right now.”
