Netflix cancels ‘The Vince Staples Show’ after two seasons

Netflix has officially cancelled The Vince Staples Show after two seasons.

The first season of the series, hosted by Long Beach rapper Vince Staples, was released in February 2024, followed by the second season in November 2025.

However, according to Deadline, the streaming platform has decided to pull the plug on the show.

The second season ended at number 1,446 on Netflix’s Second Half of 2025 viewership report, with 1.7 million views. In comparison, the first season had 4.6 million views over a period twice as long.

The series scored 94% with critics and 88% with viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, but it never broke into Netflix’s Weekly Top 10.

Created by Staples, Ian Edelman, and Maurice Williams, the comedy show had an extensive cast, with everyone from Rick Ross to Bryan Greenberg starring in the series. Staples played the lead role as himself.

During an appearance on After Hours last year, Staples spoke about the creative process behind the show.

“The way the show was written – and this was always the intention – The Vince Staples Show is not about Vince Staples as a character,” he said. “It’s about a perspective. It’s The Vince Staples Show because I made it not because it’s about me. I think that was a hard thing for a lot of people to grasp.”

He continued, “Going from writing for me and then writing for the characters it became kind of a disconnect because they’re expecting me to come in and write a show about myself, but I’m writing a show about other people and how they view me in the world.”

Staples released his latest solo album, Dark Times, in May 2024. It served as his final project on Def Jam Recordings.
