Nas surprises fans with the announcement of his new album ‘Magic 2’

New York legend and creator of Illmatic Nas has recently surprised fans by announcing that he will release a new project this week. Entitled Magic 2, the album will is a sequel to his 2021 project, Magic.

The ‘Ether’ act (real name Nasir Jones) recently finished his tour of Europe alongside the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. In conjunction, the two 1990s East Coast acts sold-out London’s O2 arena and hosted a suave Hennessy-sponsored afterparty at the North London music venue KOKO.

However, following this and still riding the high, Jones has decided it is finally time to put out some new music and, earlier this week, took to Instagram to post the cover art for what will become his sixteenth studio album.

Posting a large retro-style picture that shows a young Nas morphing into his current self, the emcee wrote, “7.21.” Thereby revealing that the album will be available on all streaming platforms from July 21st.

Jones’ 2021 project Magic was executively produced by the renowned beatmaker Hit-Boy and fans suspect Magic 2 will be too. Nas has been extremely prolific over the past few years concerning music, and Magic 2 will be Queensbridge native’s fifth record in three years.

Since 2020 the lyricist has released King’s Disease, King’s Disease II, King’s Disease III, Magic and now the highly anticipated Magic 2. In 2020 Jones received hisfirst-ever Grammy Award and has been on a roll ever since.

The rapper’s King’s Disease trilogy of albums received vast amounts of critical acclaim with publications such as NME writing, “With ‘King’s Disease III’, the New York rapper has put the seal on a strong album trilogy that proves that three decades in, he’s still a force to be reckoned with.”
