Nas and 50 Cent star in the trailer for new documentary on Brooklyn's Az

Nas and 50 Cent have appeared in the trailer for an upcoming documentary about Brooklyn’s Az.

While the rapper isn’t as widely known as his peers, he’s a true Brooklyn legend who has walked his own path. Az first started to make a name for himself when he appeared on Nas’ seminal Illmatic, and his cameo led to him signing a deal with EMI, who released his debut album, Doe Or Die.

He’s enjoyed moderate success throughout his career, and while he’s not become a name that’s infiltrated the mainstream, Az has carved out a list of achievements that make most rappers green with envy.

The Brooklyn wordsmith has now become the topic of the upcoming documentary, Jewels, Gems & Treasures. The film follows how he and Nas came up together, Doe or Die, his work in the rap supergroup The Firm, and also the release of his last year’s Doe or Die II.

“AZ would say some slippery shit,” 50 says in the trailer. Meanwhile, Nas comments, “He created a lane for himself. He didn’t want to go where anybody else went, where I went, where this guy went.”

Additionally, producer Buckwild adds: “A lot of cats that I know from around the world look at AZ like, ‘Yo, he’s one of the coldest rappers ever.'”
