Mustard responds to Drake’s ‘Not Like Us’ lawsuit being thrown out

A judge dismissed Drake‘s lawsuit against Universal Music Group over Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ this week. Now, the song’s producer, Mustard, has seemingly responded to the suit being dropped.

In a ruling filed on October 9th, Judge Jeannette A Vargas stated Kendrick’s lyrics were a “non-actionable opinion” after Drizzy sued his label for defamation.

“The issue in this case is whether ‘Not Like Us’ can reasonably be understood to convey as a factual matter that Drake is a paedophile or that he has engaged in sexual relations with minors,” she said. “In light of the overall context in which the statements in the Recording were made, the Court holds that it cannot.”

She added, “The average listener is not under the impression that a diss track is the product of a thoughtful or disinterested investigation, conveying to the public fact-checked verifiable content.”

Mustard famously produced ‘Not Like Us’, which reached number one on the Hot 100 and won five Grammys.

Taking to X after the news broke about the lawsuit being thrown out, the producer shared numerous laughing emojis.

Following Kendrick’s Super Bowl halftime show, in which the Compton rapper targeted Drake, Mustard gave Drizzy some advice.

“I don’t know, man. I actually don’t think about what he could do,” he said. “I just try to stay aligned with pure shit, just being pure and being on the right side of things — not doing no tactics and gimmicks.”

He added, “I’m not speaking at Drake or for him, but a lot of shit that’s going on — the tactics, the things that you do just to get attention. You don’t need to do that. Just make music, man. Make good music and you’ll be fine.”

Mustard once worked with Drake on YG’s ‘Who Do You Love?’ in 2014. However, he told the Los Angeles Times last year, “I don’t think I want to make a song with that dude. He’s a strange guy.”
