Miami concert shooting: Two dead and 20 injured

Two people have been killed and a further 20 have been seriously injured following a shooting outside of a concert in Miami over the weekend.

Three gunmen in ski masks opened fire on a crowd outside of El Mula Banquet Hall in Miami in the early hours of Sunday morning on May 30th. The Miami Herald is currently reporting that three of the injured victims are currently in a critical condition.

There had been an album launch party held at the venue prior to the shootings, in a line-up that consisted of local rappers.

In a statement Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo Ramirez III wrote: “I am at the scene of another targeted and cowardly act of gun violence, where over 20 victims were shot and two have sadly died. These are cold-blooded murderers that shot indiscriminately into a crowd and we will seek justice. My deepest condolences to the family of the victims.”

It is believed that during the incident several members in the crowd returned fire at the suspects before they fled the scene.

Investigators are yet to identify any suspects or discern a clear motive behind the attack, but Ramirez III did make it clear within his statement that police do not believe that it was random.

“This type of gun violence has to stop,” he said. “Every weekend it is the same thing. This is targeted.”

Sadly there was also a second major shooting incident in the Miami area on Friday evening in the Wynwood locale, indicative of the escalating gun violence problem in the region.
