Method Man accused of assaulting daughter’s ex-boyfriend at gym
Method Man was allegedly involved in an assault in New York City last week. The rapper, who is a member of Wu-Tang Clan, has been accused of assaulting his daughter’s ex-boyfriend at a Crunch Fitness gym in his hometown of Staten Island.
Sources say Meth punched a 28-year-old man named Patrick Sokoya seven times in the face with a closed fist. The assault was allegedly due to the relationship Sokoya had with his daughter, Cheyenne, over 10 years ago.
According to the New York Post, Sokoya claimed that Meth brought the pain to his face and that he was feeling dizzy but refused medical attention at the scene of the alleged incident.
Meth denied all of the allegations against him through a representative. “Mr Smith categorically denies the allegations as reported and has not been the subject of an arrest by any law enforcement agency,” the statement read.
Law enforcement sources later revealed that Meth won’t be arrested for the altercation, with an investigation discovering that the rapper was actually hit first during the fight. He didn’t file a cross-complaint and likely won’t proceed with one.
His daughter, Cheyenne, recently kicked off a rap career of her own but is determined to prove herself without simply using her father’s fame and contacts.
“A lot of people would say [that he could just make a call and put me on], but at the end of the day, you gotta put in the work,” she said in an interview with Shaoliiin Entertainment in 2024. “He could do that but he rather see me work for it and really push but he’s gonna support one thousand gajillion trillion percent. But he wants to see the work too.”
Meth released his last album Meth Lab Season 3: The Rehab in 2022, with features coming from Jadakiss, KRS-One, Redman and Cappadonna. The project was the third entry in his Meth Lab series following the first in 2015 and second in 2018. Wu-Tang’s last album to be released to the public was A Better Tomorrow in 2014, which peaked at number 29 on the Billboard 200 chart.
