Memphis rapper involved in near-death car accident
Memphis rapper Gloss Up has revealed she almost died in a car accident.
The 28-year-old, who is signed to Quality Control Music, opened up about her near-death incident over the weekend.
“I Almost Lost My Life,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories. “I’m So Sadddddddd. I Have Never In My Life Been In A Car Accident Until Now. My Whole Foot Amputated! I’m SAD ASFFFF! It’s My Birthdayyyyy.”
Following her message, her management team confirmed the car accident but claimed her foot hadn’t been amputated.
“Gloss Up was recently involved in a serious car accident and sustained a severe injury to her foot,” they wrote in a statement. “While the medical team is doing everything they can to save it, she is currently heavily medicated for pain and mistakenly thought it had already been amputated.”
They continued, “To clarify: her foot has NOT been amputated. She is actively in surgery, and doctors are actively working to save and treat it. She needs all the support she can get right now. Please keep her in your thoughts and send your strongest prayers for her recovery and her medical team.”
In another post to her million Instagram followers, her team shared graphic photos of her foot.
“I’m sharing a photo of her foot after surgery so you can better understand the severity of her injury and why we were told that amputation was a very real possibility,” they said. “It isn’t an easy image to look at, but it shows just how much she has already endured and how grateful we are that her foot could be saved.”
Gloss Up is best known for her Hitkidd collaboration, ‘Shabooya’, which has over 30 million Spotify streams.
