Megan Thee Stallion releases video for latest song 'Cobra'

Houston emcee Megan Thee Stallion has released a music video for her latest single, ‘Cobra’. This track is the first the artist (real name Megan Pete) has released since she officially settled outside of court with her former label, 1501 Certified Entertainment.

During the interim between cutting ties with 1501 and admitting that she wants to be independent for a while, it is evident the lyricist has decided to set up her own label with ‘Cobra’ getting released through Hot Girl Entertainment.

This new rock-inspired song sees Pete seemingly address the Tory Lanez case and 1501 Certified Entertainment case as she opens the video, stating, “Just as a snake sheds its skin. We must shed our past. Over and over again.”

The visuals for this latest single see Pete crawl out of a snake’s mouth, peel off layers of her skin, and perform a dance routine to a guitar solo. The visuals are very reminiscent of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’—another snake-inspired track.

Prior to the release of ‘Cobra’, Pete released a statement reading, “Cobras exemplify courage and self-reliance. They stand tall and fierce in the face of challenges, teaching one to tap into their inner strength and rely on oneself to conquer their treats. Emulating the cobra helps one be more confident in the person they are within.”

‘Cobra’ follows Megan Thee Stallion’s high-profile Cardi B collaboration ‘Bongos’ and her Dicks: The Musical contribution ‘Out Alpha the Alpha.’ The rapper is making a comeback slowly but surely ahead of an album that is likely to be released next year.

As for now, the Houston musician is happily releasing singles for her fans and collaborating with other female rappers. ‘Cobra’ is her way of showing her return from the snake pit.
