Megan Thee Stallion once auditioned for a reality TV show

Megan Thee Stallion (commonly referred to as Meg) is the ultimate new-generation female rapper. Along with the likes of Cardi B and, more recently, GloRilla, she is one of the many female rappers that have found their way to the top as a new era of female rap begins.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Megan Thee Stallion (real name Megan Pete) began to gain traction through her freestyles on social media, primarily Instagram. Across 2016 and 2017, she really began to make a name for herself as a hair and makeup influencer and rapper.

However, before she achieved fame as an artist, Pete once auditioned to feature on one of America’s most controversial TV reality shows, Love & Hip-Hop: Houston. In 2021, VH1 shared a video of Pete’s initial audition video. Wearing a green tee, Pete declared, “It’s Megan Thee Stallion, A.K.A young Tina Snow, A.K.A H-Town Hottie, and I’m from Houston, Texas, and I’m just the best female rapper that’s poppin’ off right now.”

She continued, “On top of that, I’m a full-time college student.” Pete was an attendee of Texas Southern University at the time. During her pitch, the Houston emcee explained how her mother was an artist and spoke about what would later come true in her career. Several Love and Hip-Hop members watched the audition on air, and, along with Ray J, most members of the cast listening in didn’t think much of Meg at the time.

Confident as ever, Pete boldly continued, “Megan is gonna become a household name. When you’re talkin’ about those poppin’ rappers, I’m going to be in that conversation.” The audition was recorded in 2017, not long after she released her ‘Stalli (Freestyle).’ The franchise Love & Hip Hop: Houston never went ahead. However, it was unsurprising pete chose to audition.

Meg’s ‘WAP’ collaborator, Cardi B, was a cast member of Love & Hip Hop: New York and acts such as Sukihana, who makes a cameo in the ‘WAP’ video, is a cast member of Love & Hip Hop: Miami. In 2017, as a rapper on 1501 Certified Entertainment, little did Pete know that only three years later, she would be collaborating with Beyoncé.
