Megan Thee Stallion confirms a new album is out this month

Megan Thee Stallion (commonly referred to as Meg) is the ultimate new-generation female rapper. Along with the likes of Cardi B and, more recently, GloRilla, she is one of the many female rappers who are set to replace and surpass Nicki Minaj as a new era of female rap begins.

The Houston emcee has been a bit quiet lately. However, the ‘Hiss’ artist has now revealed that she will be releasing an album later this year. The female rapper is currently on her Hot Girl Summer tour and announced the album’s release while performing in Atlanta.

Following the announcement, Megan Thee Stallion (real name Megan Pete) took to Instagram to share the artwork of the album and its title, revealing that the project will be self-titled named Megan.

Pete has been teasing the project for the past few months, and following the rapper’s feud with Nicki Minaj, the release of ‘Big Foot’ and Minaj’s Instagram rant aimed at her, Megan Thee Stallion went quiet.

Underneath the album’s artwork, Pete captioned the post, “SURPRISE HOTTIESSSS!!!! My New Album ‘MEGAN’ will be coming out JUNE 28. Click the link in bio to PRE-SAVE NOW!” Fans in the comments section were elated by the announcement.

One user wrote, “A world tour AND a new album!?!? we’re really outside this summer.” Another added, “A SELF-TITLED ALBUM??? OH MY GOD IM NOT READY.” Many other fans were excited.

In an interview with L’OFFICIEL earlier this week, Megan Thee Stallion told fans what they can expect from the project, explaining, “This is music I would like if I wasn’t Megan Thee Stallion. I don’t want to say I’m tapping into other genres. I’m just tapping into other sounds.”

She continued, “It’s still very much Megan Thee Stallion. It won’t feel like I went so left. It’ll feel true to me. You’ll almost be like, ‘I wouldn’t have thought she would’ve rapped over that, but this sounds great.'”
