In a recent episode of the It Is What It Is podcast alongside his counterpart Cam’Ron, Harlem World rapper Ma$e gave a theory about Kanye West, 21 Savage and Wiz Khalifa concerning their respective relationships with model Amber Rose.
Speaking about their relationships with Rose, Ma$e (real name Mason Betha) suggested that all three artists made their best music while they were romantically involved with Amber Rose and were at the top of their game with her around.
Opening up about his theory, Betha stated, “Every time Amber got with somebody, they made the best music of their life. Think of the music Ye was making with her. Think of [‘We Dem Boyz’]. That was when Wiz was with Amber. And 21 did his thing when he was with Amber, right? N*ggas made some of their best music.”
However, Purple Haze emcee Cam’Ron disagreed with his Harlem peer and highlighted her as one of the top three women who are hip-hop adjacent alongside Draya Michele and Lori Harvey.
Stating his opinion, Cam’Ron explained, “She didn’t find them because they were nice guys. They were making good music before she got with them. If they wasn’t, she wouldn’t have got with them.”
Mase replied to Cam’Ron, insisting, “Killa, you don’t get [Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy] from dating regular girls. You got that from Amber. You don’t get ‘We Dem Boyz,’ you don’t feel like that unless you’re with somebody that makes you feel like we dem boys.”
Kanye dated Rose from 2008–2010. During this period, he released his albums 808s & Heartbreak and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Two classic projects. Khalifa was in a relationship with Rose between 2011 and 2014 in 2103 they got married but quickly divorced.
