Marlon Wayans hits back at Soulja Boy following transphobic slur at his child
Legendary actor and comedian Marlon Wayans has hit back at ‘Crank That’ rapper Soulja Boy after the emcee decided to call his transgender son a “f*ggot” during a social media exchange.
The comedian and musician have had an ongoing feud for a while, which has turned ugly on several occasions, and the White Chicks actor has seemingly had enough of the rapper’s derogatory comments.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Little Man creator responded to Soulja Boy’s nastiness, writing, “If Soulja Boy had a career, he could get cancelled for this type of slander. Luckily, he ain’t been relevant since 2007.”
Wayans was only talking to Soulja Boy after the Atlanta native decided to share a screenshot of 2024 headlines about the actor embracing his transgender son. In a series of homophobic and transphobic tweets, the ‘Donk’ rhymer suggested that the Wayans family has a proclivity for presenting as different genders.
Alongside the screenshot, Soulja Boy nastily wrote, “That f*ggot shit run in the family huh Marlon Wayans! No wonder u like dressing up as a bitch. It’s in ur blood.” This isn’t the first time Wayans has stood up for his child.
The 52-year-old actor previously revealed that his eldest child was transgender during an appearance on The Breakfast Club with DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God and Jess Hilarious in November 2023.
Unveiling the news, Wayans told the hosts, “My daughter Amai is now Kai.” The actor admitted he was ignorant of the condition of gender dysphoria and was in denial for several years.
He also stated that it took him a while before he could act with “complete unconditional love and acceptance.” Last year, during Pride Month, Wayans supported his son with a post on Instagram by posing shirtless with a rainbow flag, writing, “P.S. I’m STRAIGHT. Well, according to my child CISGENDER male. I just love and support my peoples.”
The post was not received well by some, and he sought to address his followers straight away, commenting, “As a father of a child in the LGBTQ+ community, I show my support. Zero f*cks. What people think. If I lost you… GOOD! Your hateful ass never loved me in the first place.”
In various posts, Wayans has proudly stood with his kids, Kai and Shawn, 23, as well as his ex-girlfriend, Angelica Zachary. The comedian and Soulja Boy have been in a confusing back-and-forth feud since Wayans called out the ‘Kiss Me Thru The Phone’ rapper during an appearance on 101.1 The Wiz radio show last month.
During the interview, Wayans merely highlighted what many in hip-hop already know. That Soulja Boy is irrelevant and has been using disrespectful social media beef as a tool for promotion. Still, the emcee merely went on the rampage, firing a barrage of posts at him, including, “Marlon Wayans, you a bitch and u not funny shut up n*gga keep selling ur soul and sucking the higher up dicks.” He has previously called the beloved comedian a “hoe” as well as other offensive slurs.
