Man shot dead outside T.I.’s recording studio in Atlanta

A man was shot and killed outside of a recording studio belonging to T.I. over the weekend.

At around 3:17am on January 31st, police officers heard gunshots in the area of Deering Road NW and Northside Drive NW in Atlanta. Reports of a person shot near 588 Trabert Avenue NW followed, with officers being flagged down.

According to WSBTV, officers discovered a man with an apparent gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries.

The man’s age and identity is unknown, and it’s currently unclear what led to the shooting take place.

Super Sound Studios, formerly known as Silent Sound, is owned by T.I. and operated by chief engineer Elliot Carter.

T.I. purchased the studio in 2020. Carter said at the time, “Tip wanted to keep the studio a studio. It’s 25 years of history. He didn’t want it to leave. This was the only space that Tip wanted, with the heritage and quality and size of it.”

He continued, “There aren’t many of these left. The whole idea that Tip was involved in keeping the history with the studio, that’s really where I’m proud of being part of it.”

The Atlanta rapper is set to release his new album Kill the King this year, sharing his new single ‘Let Em Know‘ with Pharrell in January. Kill the King will serve as the follow-up to The L.I.B.R.A., which was released in October 2020.

A man was previously shot outside the studio in 2022. Two men opened fire on the victim in his car during the early hours of the morning; he survived after being taken to the hospital in stable condition.
