Mac Miller posthumous verse appears on new Thundercat single

A posthumous Mac Miller song has been released as a collaboration with Thundercat.

The Los Angeles musician dropped his new song ‘She Knows Too Much’ on February 17th as another taste of his upcoming album, Distracted.

On the track, Mac spits an unreleased verse while also handling the chorus. The pair recorded the song before he died in 2018.

He raps, “You got trouble payin’ rent now/ Live in an apartment, I can take you to the penthouse/ Got a stepchild, gone like exile/ Make me say, ‘Woo’, every time you pull your breasts out.”

To coincide with the release, Thundercat shared a statement paying tribute to the late rapper.

“I’m grateful to have spent my time on this planet with Mac… What an artist, what a spirit, what a joy to have experienced,” he said. “What can I say about Mac Miller that hasn’t been said, shared & explored with you all. I always considered Mac a ‘one man rat pack.’ Smooth like Frank, cool like Sammy, suave like Dean.”

He added, “I wish that you all could have been there with us the moment this song was created in his garage. From Faces, to Swimming in Circles, to Ballonerism and beyond…long live Mac Miller!!!”

Mac and Thundercat have collaborated in the past on songs like ‘What’s the Use?‘ from 2018’s Swimming album and ‘In the Morning’ from 2013’s Live from Space project. The producer also appeared during Mac’s “Tiny Desk Concert,” which has over 141 million views on YouTube.

Thundercat’s fifth studio album, Distracted, will be released on April 3rd via Brainfeeder. Other collaborators on the album include A$AP Rocky, Lil Yachty, Willow, Tame Impala, Flying Lotus, and Channel Tres.
