Los Angeles rapper Luci4 has passed away at the age of 23.
The viral artist (real name James Dear) was best known for his song ‘BodyPartz’, which is certified gold and has over 112 million Spotify streams.
According to TMZ, the LA County Medical Examiner confirmed that he had died, but the cause of death was unknown.
Luci4’s grandparents told the publication that he died at his friend’s house in his hometown on February 22nd.
His grandmother and grandfather claim his death was suspicious, alleging his wallet was emptied. They say they recently warned him about his associates as he became more famous.
The Los Angeles Fire Department received a medical call at 11:40am. When they arrived, Luci4 was found dead, and the police were informed. A crime scene was set up upon their arrival; it’s unclear whether foul play is suspected.
His manager, Kayla G, took to social media to confirm his death and pay tribute to the young rapper.
“I am devastated to inform you that today, James, Luci4, Axxturel has passed away,” she said. “He was truly a leader a king and a musician and a genius. There’s nobody like him and there will never be. We all loved him dearly. Rest Easy. Please allow family and friends privacy and patience during this difficult time.”
