Logic Drops 'Highlife' video starring Jay and Silent Bob

Logic has just dropped a new track titled ‘Highlife’ alongside an accompanying g music video featuring a rare cameo by stoner comedy duo Jay and Silent Bob.

Jason Mews and Kevin Smith made their debut as fictional characters in Smith’s directorial classic Clerks, establishing themselves as recurring characters in the writer and producer’s Askewniverse, the fictional universe used in Smith’s films, comics and TV shows.

The video for ‘Highlife’ sees the two actors portray Jay and Silent Bob as the Maryland icon raps about getting high, partying and enjoying life. “Up when the sun shines, yeah/ Motivated by the people I see around me all the time, all the time,” Logic raps. “Uh, yeah, sometimes I, I doubt myself in the moment/ Only for a moment, I’m knowin’/ No, it ain’t always gon’ be this way, what can I say?/ That’s why I buy it, break it, roll it, light it/ Smoke it, ignite it, every day,”

Logic is currently gearing up to release his new album College Park on February 24th. ‘Highlife’ is the latest preview of that much-anticipated album and follows ‘Maybach Music’, which was recorded inside a brand new Maybach worth $325,000.

College Park is set to feature appearances from the likes of Joey Bada$$, RZA, Redman, Bun B, Statik Selektah, Norah Jones, Fat Trel, Phil Ade, Seth MacFarlane and more.

The album marks Logic’s first independent release since serving ties with Def Jam in 2022. The rapper recorded Vinyl Days, his final record on the label, in just 12 days. Clearly, he was keen to get out the door. Make sure you check out the video for ‘Highlife’ above.
