Lizzo announces fourth album ‘Special’ with new single ‘About Damn Time’

Lizzo has finally returned with her brand new single, ‘About Damn Time’.

The new track is the first release from her highly-anticipated new album, Special, which arrives on July 15th. It’s Lizzo’s first record since her 2019 breakthrough Cuz I Love You, including the hit singles’ Juice’ and ‘Tempo’.

On the funky new effort, Lizzo vivaciously sings: “It’s bad bitch o’clock / Yeah, it’s thick-thirty” and brings the energy. It’s her first release since last summer’s Cardi B collaboration, ‘Rumors’.

Lizzo spoke with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about her new single and proclaimed: “I’ve made the song of the summer with ‘About Damn Time’. I’m in my bag, and my bag is music. I’m good at music. It’s what I do.”

She added: “‘About Damn Time’ can lead into so many conversations. It’s about damn time I feel better, it’s about damn time we get out this pandemic.

“It’s about damn time we to get the first black female Supreme Court Justice. There’s so many things. It’s about damn time we popped the champagne. It’s about damn time the tequila got here.”

Lizzo will be performing the new track this weekend on Saturday Night Live, and she’ll also be on hosting duties.
