Little Simz’ Spotify streams increase by over 350 per cent following BRIT Awards 2022

Little Simz has seen her Spotify streams increase by over 350 per cent following her victorious nights at the BRIT Awards 2022.

For her show-stealing performance, the 28-year-old mashed up ‘Woman’ and ‘Introvert’ together from her critically acclaimed 2021 album, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. The rapper’s performance included a cameo from The Crown’s Emma Corrin, who reprised her role on the record at the award ceremony, and it made for gripping viewing.

While she was nominated for four awards in total, Simz was unsuccessful in the Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and the Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Artist category, but, thankfully she was crowned as the Best New Artist.

In her emotional acceptance speech, Simz told those in attendance: “Thank you to everyone who supported me on this journey so far. Anyone that is watching this at home, I am living proof that if you work hard at something no matter where you come from, no matter your background, no matter your race. You can do something extraordinary.”

She added: “So this is for all the kids dreaming. Keep dreaming, keep pushing. I am you, you are me. Blessings”.

The primetime spotlight has introduced Simz to a whole new audience, and as a result, her Spotify numbers have soared. Tom Connaughton, MD of Spotify UK and Ireland, told Rolling Stone UK: “As ever, the BRITs showed the incredible breadth of talent being fostered here in the UK, across every genre of music.

“We always love to look at the impact that the artists’ performances, nominations and wins have on their streams, as people head to Spotify to check out their tracks and wider catalogue.”
