Little Simz shares latest single 'Rollin Stone'

British rapper Little Simz has released a new single ‘Rollin Stone’, the latest taste of her upcoming LP Sometimes I Might Be Introvert.

Simz recently announced Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, which followed the release of the album’s first two singles, ‘Introvert’ and ‘Woman’, From that, the musician has also announced the planned upcoming UK and European tour dates.

‘Rollin Stone’ continues the hot streak that Simz has been riding since first announcing her fourth studio album. Mixing her trademark hard-hitting vocal style while scaring most of the R&B and bedroom pop influences that Simz occasionally indulges in. Instead, the song is tense, highly strung, and in your face. “Stayed to myself been true to the core/I was always the illest there’s never been no cure.”

Taking the form of a tongue-in-cheek origin story, the song’s hook keeps the aggressive nature of the track intact. “Mummy handled business, Papa was a rollin stone/I’m a mix of both there ain’t no bitch boy in my bones.” While ‘Woman’ and ‘Introvert’ allowed for beauty and softness to mix in with the harder elements of the arrangement, ‘Rollin Stone’ works as a harsh snap back reality where Simz is in full no quarter “take no prisoners” mode.

The three singles all add to what is surely going to be a diverse array of material on Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. The rough-edged politics of ‘Introvert’ rubs elbows with the personalized direct power of ‘Woman’ and the full-on attack of ‘Rollin Stone’. Whichever topics she chooses to cover, what’s clear is that Simz is working on another level, taking her heightened ability and creating some of the best work of her young career.
