Little Simz has revealed she’ll be returning with new music next week. On February 20th, the London rapper shared the release date for a mysterious drop alongside a trailer, giving fans a taste of new material less than two months after her last release.

Simz posted a black-and-white video that shows her standing in the middle of a storm. In the Instagram caption, she wrote, “FLOOD. FEB 26th,” leaving fans to play the guessing game in the comments about whether she’s dropping a single, EP or album.

Earlier this month, Simz was announced as the curator for the 2025 edition of the Meltdown Festival in London. The 11-day festival will take place between June 12th and June 22nd at the Southbank Centre, with Simz personally choosing the performers for each night and hitting the stage herself.

“I’m super excited to be the 2025 Meltdown festival curator!” she said in a statement at the time. “My team and I are preparing eleven days of art, music, workshops and more. So many incredible artists have curated this festival so it’s a true honour to be a part of it. Thank you to the Southbank Centre for having me. Meltdown 2025 the Simz way is going to be epic. I’ll see you there.”

Simz quietly dropped a surprise song titled ‘Hello, Hi‘ on December 30th, which already has over 3.5 million streams on Spotify. Her last album, No Thank You, was released in 2022 and saw her working closely with Sault’s Inflo, who produced the whole project, and Cleo Sol, who provided backing vocals throughout much of the body of work.

Speaking to Apple Music‘s Zane Lowe about the album title, she said, “It was just the realisation of the power of the word ‘no.’ It just meant rejection; it had so many negative things attached to it, and actually, there’s so much power in the word ‘no’ in a positive way.”

Simz previously won the Mercury Prize for her album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, which dropped in 2021. It was also nominated for ‘Best Album’ at the Ivor Novello Awards.
