Lil Yachty teams up with Fred Again and Overmono for new track

Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty has recently teamed up with the UK producer duo Overmono and beatmaker Fred Again for the new single ‘Stayinit’. Since 2020, hip-hop has sought to incorporate more electronic elements into its sound and with songs such as Lil Uzi Vert’s ‘Just Wanna Rock’ embracing Jersey Club music, this new track from Fred Again is yet another example.

Overmono are a British duo most associated with the UK Garage genre. However, they are also known for creating exceptional hip-hop and dance music fusions, which they recently achieved with Fred Again and Lil Yachty.

Released on February 29th via Fred Again’s YouTube channel, the song hears Yachty use his signature autotuned style to add some melodic lyrics to a futuristic 2-step garage instrumental. This new single from Fred Again is expected to be added to Fred Again’s series of ‘USB’ records.

This song, alongside Lil Yachty, follows Fred Again’s minimal Drum & Bass track featuring Baby Keem that sees the London native manipulate Keem’s to create an aggressive, high-energy, mostly instrumental piece named ‘leavemealone’.

Last year, Fred Again also collaborated with Jozzy for his single ‘ten’ and created a summer hit with his track ‘adore you’, which peaked at number four on the UK singles chart.

This is the first time Fred Again has collaborated with Atlanta superstar Lil Yachty and the iconic UK dance music duo Overmono, who have been behind some critically acclaimed projects such as Arla and Good Lies.

The latest single ‘stayinit’ hears Yachty rap heartfelt lyrics such as, “I know you/ Down with the pain, see the rain/ Realise everybody won’t be perfect/ But I do/ Try hard to fix the mistakes that I made with you,” before the song drops into its powerful UK garage chorus.
