Lil Yachty remembers XXXTentacion: “The most talented of us all”
Lil Yachty has spoken about his past relationship with XXXTentacion, who was murdered in 2018.
During a recent podcast appearance, the Atlanta rapper remembered the late Florida figure, admitting he wishes he were still alive.
Speaking on Impaulsive with Logan Paul, he said, “I wish X was still here. I really wish he was still here. He was so talented. Him, Juice [WRLD].”
Yachty talked more about his relationship with X, revealing it went far beyond musical collaborations.
“I worked with Juice a lot – we had a whole project,” he said. “And me and X were super close. We only had one song together but we were super tight. We were always on the phone. I used to talk to him when he was in jail before he got out.”
He added, “It was a really sad case. I think X was the most talented of them all, of us all, in my opinion. I think he was just ahead of himself.”
Yachty also reflected on the eight years that have passed since XXXTentacion died.
“It’s so long ago at this point, man,” he said. “It’s been so long. It’s scary how time flies when you become an adult. I feel like when I was in grade school, like, the school year would be so long. You’d wait for summer. Now, as an adult, you speed through years.”
XXXTentacion was shot and killed during a robbery in Deerfield Beach, Florida, on June 18th, 2018. Two armed and masked men approached his car, shooting him several times bein fleeing the scene.
The popular rapper, who released his final album just months before his death, was just 20 years old.
