Lil Wayne’s son claims his dad wrote most of Drake’s lyrics

Lil Novi, son of Lil Wayne, has boldly claimed that his dad wrote most of Drake’s lyrics. The 15-year-old made his comments during a recent studio interview.

Without bias, Novi was asked to pick the better rapper between Wayne and Drake, to which he chose his father. After quickly deciding, he alleged that Wayne is a ghostwriter behind many songs in Drizzy’s catalogue.

“My dad wrote most of [Drake’s] shit,” he told Trill Marty. “I mean, on God. Like, if it wasn’t for my pops, then there wouldn’t be no Drake. For real, for real. I mean, there probably would be a Drake, but he wouldn’t be where he’s at, though.”

Novi added, “No disrespect to Drake, he hard,” but there’s “not really a comparison” between them.

Drake signed to Wayne’s Young Money label in 2009 and has been an essential figure in his career. The pair have collaborated on many songs throughout their careers, such as ‘HYFR (Hell Ya Fucking Right)’, ‘She Will’, ‘Miss Me’ and ‘The Motto’.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, Drake once explained how Wayne improved his lyrics with some key advice.

“Wayne told me to just remember it’s about your thoughts, you got to think about what you want to say beforehand,” he said. “And then from there, you make it rhyme or you make it connect. But the more important thing is, what’s your message? What’s your point? And that should be the bare essentials of a line or a verse – what do you really want to say and what do you want to say about yourself?”

He continued, “I think he gave me that advice truly for me to set myself apart as a rapper, because I know Wayne sometimes raps for the sake of being a phenomenal rapper. And other times you’ll get a song where he tells a story and gets personal.”
