Lil Wayne picks his favourite movies of all time

New Orleans emcee Lil Wayne is one of the wealthiest and most influential MCs ever. The ‘A Milli’ musician founded the iconic Young Money label, which launched the careers of artists such as Nicki Minaj, Drake and Tyga and has sold millions of records.

After getting discovered by Birdman when he was just a teenager in the late 1990s, Lil Wayne became Birdman’s protégé and exploded in the early-2000s. After building a buzz by touring on the underground and with multiple tracks receiving local airplay in the South, Carter’s debut album, Tha Block Is Hot, debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. Ever since, Lil Wayne has continued to be a mainstay of the culture.

In 2004, Wayne released his fourth studio album, Tha Carter, which birthed his Carter album series. He then put out his classic mixtape series Dedication alongside DJ Drama, which shook up the underground.

With 13 studio albums, three collaborative albums, three compilation albums, five EPs, and a mind-blowing 29 mixtapes, Lil Wayne has released an unfathomable amount of music. As such, he generates a lot of interest.

In 2009, the Louisiana native was interviewed by GQ magazine, during which fans got to find out more about the rapper’s tastes and life journey. During the discussion, Carter was asked about movies, and, strangely, he revealed that he loves horror films.

Speaking to the journalist, Wayne stated, “The scariest shit is the realest shit. I love The Sixth Sense. It makes you think, makes you pissed off. people always watch that movie and be like scared. The first time I watched it, I was so pissed off at the end. Like, ‘Why the fuck I ain’t know this the whole time?!'”

He concluded, “That’s why it’s my favourite movie. That and the one with the little girl. Hide n Seek, the one with Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning. That shit is amazing. They got this scene in that movie that we [my friends] still argue about to this day. There’s a twin! Dakota Fanning, she got a twin, and no one ever notices.”
