Lil Wayne responds to Kendrick Lamar mention on ‘GNX’ album: “Let this giant sleep”

Kendrick Lamar released his new album GNX last week and addressed Lil Wayne’s disappointment about not being picked for the halftime show at Super Bowl LIX. With the 2025 event taking place in New Orleans, Weezy felt like he should have been the person to perform, but K.Dot ended up being awarded the prestigious slot.

On ‘wacced out murals’, the opening track on GNX, Kendrick Lamar opens up about taking the opportunity away from Lil Wayne while revealing his admiration for his 2008 album. He raps on the song, “Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud/ Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down/ Whatever, though, call me crazy, everybody questionable/ Turn me to an eskimo, I drew the line and decimals.”

Lil Wayne was made aware of the mention and took to X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend to respond to Kendrick Lamar’s comments and all the chatter around his lines. Weezy was confused about his name being brought up and asked people to leave him alone, but did threaten to retaliate if required.

“Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head,” he wrote. “Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.”

Following news about Kendrick Lamar being selected for the Super Bowl, Lil Wayne said the outcome “broke him” and that he was trying to recover from the shock.

“That hurt. It hurt a lot. You know what I’m talking about. It hurt a whole lot,” he said. “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown, and for automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So I blame myself for that.”

He continued, “But I thought that was nothing better than that spot and that stage and that platform in my city, so it hurt. It hurt a whole lot. But y’all are fucking amazing. It made me feel like shit not getting this opportunity and when I felt like shit, you guys reminded me that I ain’t shit without y’all… and that’s an amazing reality.”

Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar have collaborated in the past on ‘Mona Lisa’ from Weezy’s 2018 album Tha Carter V, as well as Mike WiLL Made-It’s ‘Buy the World’.
