Lil Wayne an André 3000 are headlining 2024's Roots Picnic

Philadelphia collective The Roots have announced the lineup for this year’s Roots Picnic festival. Hip-hop artists such as Lil Wayne, Nas and André 3000 are among some of the acts that will perform at the event.

The festival, which takes place annually, will be held for two days in June. Located at its longtime home, The Mann in Fairmount Park, the event will not showcase strictly hip-hop artists.

Acts such as Fantasia, Robert Glasper, Gunna, Sexyy Red, Tyla, Smino, Babyface, and Victoria Monét, to name a few, will also be performing at the picnic. There will also be live podcasts, DJ sets and immersive experiences.

The 2024 Roots Picnic tickets are available for pre-sale on the Live Nation website. General tickets will be on sale starting Friday, February 23rd, at 10:00am and will be sold via Ticketmaster. You can also access tickets on StubHub.

Lil Wayne’s performance will be one of his most significant this year and will be in honour of his hometown, New Orleans. Local Louisiana legends such as PJ Morton and Trombone Shorty will join him on stage.

André 3000 will also perform a live rendition of his latest album, New Blue Sun, a solely instrumental project with a range of flute compositions composed by the Outkast member himself.

Aside from music, there will also be a stage named the ‘Parkside Stage,’ which will host a “range of curated experiential media along with live podcasts and DJ-driven immersive experiences.”

Last year, this epic festival saw a surprise Fugees reunion with Lauryn Hill, Pras Michael and Wyclef Jean, as well as epic performances from the likes of Busta Rhymes, The Isley Brothers, and others. You can see the line up below.
