Lil Uzi Vert releases surprise ‘Red Moon’ Christmas Day single

Eternal Atake emcee Lil Uzi Vert recently surprised fans by gifting them a new single with accompanying visuals on Christmas Day entitled ‘Red Moon’ as they settled down for the holiday season.

The Philadelphia lyricist dropped ‘Red Moon’ with its music video on December 25th and decided to offset the Christmas spirit by offering a video that explores the feeling of loneliness during a time of the year centred around family.

The song, assembled by the legendary TM88, who produced the diamond-certified single ‘XO Tour Llif3′, also features Slo Meezy, C$D Sid, FnZ, and Macnificent. The track hears Uzi rap lyrics such as, “I watched the moon tonight and it was red / I wanna live together ’til we dead / I tell myself that I can change / Remind myself to not complain” and features some strange text in the video.

As the video winds down, viewers see text appear on the screen reading, “If someone can be away from you, let them be. It’s better to be alone than losing yourself for approval. Love isn’t real, but with my imagination, I can make anything real.”

Lil Uzi Vert has been erratic and unpredictable with their releases ever since Pink Tape dropped in June, and the rapper seems to be already looking towards the new year and the next project, Luv Is Rage 3.

Earlier this year, while making a pitstop in their hometown of Philadelphia for his Pink Tape Tour, the rhymer hinted at pivoting away from experimental music toward their traditional space-themed music and aesthetic. During the performance, he declared, “Don’t get me wrong, like, the songs I’m makin’ and shit like all the ‘AAAAH!’ All that shit is cool, but I’m gettin’ back to my original shit.”

There has been no official release date for Luv Is Rage 3, and it is unclear whether or not ‘Red Moon’ is an official single that will feature on the project or whether it is just a stray single to tide fans over the holiday season.
