Lil Tjay sued by police officer over alleged assault
A police officer has filed a lawsuit against Lil Tjay after allegedly being assaulted at Madison Square Garden.
The plaintiff, New York City Police Department officer John Przybyszewski, was working a security detail for a boxing match at the Hulu Theater in February 2025 when he claims the rapper assaulted him.
According to the New York Post, a lawsuit filed on February 9th alleges that Tjay and his crew started a brawl that led to “permanent” spinal injuries.
Przybyszewski claims he suffers daily neck and back pain as a result of the alleged incident. “This didn’t just hurt my body, it changed how I live,” he said. “I love being a police officer, but this injury stole the certainty of my future. I may never know how far my career could have gone or what my full potential truly was.”
Tjay was allegedly “volatile and combative” towards both staff and other attendees at the event for the Keyshawn Davis-Denys Berinchyk fight.
Officials allegedly told Przybyszewski to remove Tjay from the arena. After claiming he “calmly” asked him to leave, Tjay allegedly started yelling and shoved him backwards, before being knocked to the floor by his team.
He claims he was left in “severe pain” after several people also fell on top of him, with allegations that Tjay also spat on him.
Przybyszewski was taken to Tisch Hospital, with doctors allegedly telling him he had suffered serious cervical spinal injuries, as well as damage to two lumbar discs.
He cited understaffing as the reason for his injuries, claiming the venue “knowingly chose to understaff a crowded professional boxing event.”
Przybyszewski’s lawyer, John Scola, said he is “a hardworking officer who took a second job to earn extra money. The defendants’ reckless conduct didn’t just injure him, it jeopardised his career and permanently altered his life.”
